Puyallup: News

Downtown Puyallup’s newest sit-down café opens, serving specialty coffee drinks

A new, but familiar, coffee shop opened in downtown Puyallup Friday.

Rainier Valley Coffee debuted the soft opening of their brick-and-mortar shop at 108 N. Meridian. The location is where Gather Juice used to be before it closed in December. The coffee shop is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m, according to their Facebook post about the opening.

The post said not everything on their full menu is available as they continue training, fine-tuning and settling into the new space.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and support while we grow into everything over the next few weeks,” the post said.

Rainier Valley Coffee has drive-thru locations in Bonney Lake, Enumclaw, Maple Valley and Renton. Their University Place location opened in early-May. They have a drive-thru location in Puyallup at 11016 Valley Ave. E., but that will close in July, Amanda Faille, owner of Rainier Valley Coffee, told The News Tribune in February.

“We’re losing our spot in Puyallup because the owner sold it a year and a half into our lease. Our lease stipulates, basically, that we have a year to get out if so requested,” Faille said earlier this year. “We make our sandwiches out of that location, so we need another. So, we decided to occupy this space.”

The new Meridian location will be the chain’s first sit-down café, with a more “food-driven concept,” she said.
