Suspect wanted for murder at Tacoma motel. Police ask for public’s help to find him

Tacoma police are looking for a man they believe killed another man in September at a motel in Tacoma.

Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Wendy Haddow said a warrant had been issued for the arrest of 42-year-old Sirrone Newbern. He is wanted in the Sept. 23 murder of Antonio Robinson at a motel at 8820 S. Hosmer St.

Newbern was described by police as a Black man who is 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said Newbern is transient and is known to frequent the area of South Hosmer Street.

Police began investigating Robinson’s death after being called to the parking lot of a motel Sept. 23 for reports of a man who had been shot. There, officers found 35-year-old Robinson unresponsive. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office later said he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Those with information can submit tips to Crime Stoppers Tacoma/Pierce County online or text or call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tipsters who provide information that leads to an arrest can receive as much as $1,000 of a cash reward.
