A suspect in the Oct. 21 shooting deaths of four people in Tacoma’s Salishan neighborhood was arrested Friday, Tacoma Police said.
The suspect is a 22-year-old man, Tacoma Police tweeted.
The suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail on four murder charges.
A mother, Maria Nunez, her teenage son, Emery Iese, his uncle, Raymond Williams, and the uncle’s girlfriend, Natasha Brincefield, were killed late in the afternoon outside Nunez’ home.
The suspect was arrested at his residence without incident in the Salishan neighborhood, a few blocks from the murder scene, according to Tacoma Police spokeswoman Wendy Haddow.
No other suspects are wanted in connection with the homicides, she said.
In a statement following news of the arrest, Tacoma mayor Victoria Woodards and council member Catherine Ushka, who represents the Salishan neighborhood, called for patience as police continue to gather facts in this case.
“We grieved the tragic loss of four lives in the Eastside community,” the statement read. “While an arrest has been made, we encourage everyone to be patient as we learn more about the facts of this case.
“We commend the work that the Tacoma Police Department has done today, and in years past, to ensure cases like this one are successfully resolved. We also want to acknowledge our community for the empathy and kindness they displayed over the past week. Although this has been a tremendously difficult time for our city, it reaffirms for us that we are a compassionate Tacoma.”
Police detectives were assisted by the department’s Special Weapons and Tactics team.
