Tova Beck has a special gift. Itâs not just the obvious talent the award-winning artist has for drawing birds, ducks and landscapes. The 14-year-old Kopachuck Middle School student from Gig Harbor has the true gift of being able to observe and take in the natural world around her. She transforms the creatures and scenery in her life into beautiful visions captured in vivid color on the pages of her recently completed book, âThe Girl Who Loved to Draw Birds.â

Groups of Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, students and families visited Kopachuck State Park on Saturday morning to replant the recently logged portion of the park. Dressed in boots and raincoats, smiling and getting filthy, they trudged through thick, sloppy mud.
