Information being gathered on charter schools for PSD board

The Peninsula School District is taking it slow as it looks into the possibility of becoming a charter school authorizer, with Superintendent Chuck Cuzzetto gathering information on the subject for the school board.

Catherine Beyerly is a passionate musician who has received various accolades. A euphonium player since she was in sixth grade, she is a member of multiple bands at Gig Harbor High School, including the wind ensemble and pep band.

Bill Herling was 10 when he started "producing" his own stories. He would go outside to make a set, write stories and act them out. He would even design logos and create production budgets.

Organization looks for families to host French students

Gig Harbor's Cecily Jenkins is looking for 18 American families to host high-school age students from France this summer, the first year for French students to visit The Maritime City and the surrounding area as part of American Discovery's youth exchange program.

High school student helps raise money for Habitat for Humanity

The fourth annual Knock My Socks Off 5-kilometer run in Gig Harbor was held Feb. 16. The event took place in large part because of the efforts of Gig Harbor High School senior Elise Saxon, who took over responsibility for several aspects of the run as part of her senior project.
